Swarms of locusts have been moving through parts of China’s southwestern province of Yunnan since late June 2020. The winged invaders have caused varying degrees of damage to at least 23,000 acres (9,300 hectares) of farmland in the southern part of the province alone. The South China Morning Post spoke with one farmer who recalled his terrifying experience with one swarm in the village of Pacuo.
